METEOROLOGY PART III – CLOUDS AND PRECIPITATION
Learn how clouds are generated and their characteristics, learn how to identify their different types, and the kind of precipitation associated.
Course content pursuant to ICAO Annex 1 / Chap.4 / 4.6.1.2 and ICAO Annex 6 / Chap.4 / 4.6.

This lesson will help you understand what is a cloud, how it forms, evoluates, and the phenomena it can produce, as winds and precipitation. At the end of the lesson, you will be able to identify the different types of clouds in the atmosphere and to make your own forecasts by looking at the sky.
Module sub-parts and themes:
-Humidity
-Latent heat and change of state
-Measurement of humidity
-Saturation of air and dew point temperature
-Conduction and convection
-Environmental Lapse Rate (ELR)
-Adiabatic processes in the atmosphere
-Adiabatic Lapse Rates (DALR and SALR)
-Atmospheric stability
-Temperature inversions and condensation level
-Classification of clouds and their characteristics
-Mechanism and types of precipitation
You must follow the module in the imposed order.
At the end, a quiz is proposed in order to evaluate your knowledge level. Afterwards, you will be able to come back to the lesson you’ve learned.
